When to vote for an opposition party

One of the mistakes that many Nigerians keep making that keeps ruining the future of our country is that they keep on voting for the same political party even when things are going bad. If a a ruling party is in office while your social welfare and security does not improve, then it no longer makes sense to keep voting for that party and that is the best time to vote for a different party. A vote for an opposition party makes better sense in an unsatifactory situation such as that.There are many political parties in Nigeria and while the one which last won an election is rightly called the ruling party, the other party or group of parties that are not in power and criticize the performance of the ruling party is called the opposition party and their job is to act as a pressure group to the government of the day.In our world of today, having an opposition party in a democracy is a good thing as it helps to keep the ruling party in check so that they don't keep on taking the rights and needs of the people for granted. An opposition party will be more likely to blame the government for in inefficiences than the ruling party which would support most things the government is doing.When people are suffering, when their roads are bad, when there is little or no social security or when there is economic hardship, it reallhy makes sense to do something posititive. It makes sense to blame someone and it would really be advisable to change the people in charge.Changing a ruling party becomes neccessary when the party is no longer fulfiling its responsibilities or has failed to fulfil its campaign promises. Many politicians in Nigerian tend to make many promoises prior to winning an election but after many of them get elected thanks to the power of voters, they tend to disappoing the people by not working for the improvement of their lives.It would be a bad thing to do for your country if you keep on voting for a party that has failed you but it would be ok if they had perforemd well. A vote for an opposing party is really recommended if you are not satisfied with the current party in power.
