Fire outbreak at MRS Filling station in Lawanson Surulere

There was a fire outbreak in the popular Lawanson bus stop in Surulere area of Lagos state as a filling station owned by MRS caught fire in the later part of the day. Many people started noticing the large fumes of smoke and fire after working hours around 5pm as people were returning home from work. The serious fire incident caused road users to find an alternative route as the road to and from the Lawanson bus stop was blocked by onlookers and security men while they awaited for the fire service.The fire was reported to have been caused by a petrol tanker and it was not easy stopping the fire even after the fire service men arrived in their truck amidss the reproach from the massive crowd who booed at them for their slow response.
Traders at the Lawanson market closed their shops and joined in the crowd onlookers whose numbers were staggering and one would wonder where all the people came from.The fire at the filling station was gradually brought under control but only after it has spread to neighbouring homes and destroyed part of their buildings apart from the MRS filling station which had become a complete ruin.
