To do business on the web, one would need to be able to receive payments online and such payments should be fully available for Nigerian residents. One thing is to get your goods and services available on the internet and another thing to be able to receive money online for providing such items.
There are quite a number of services available for us but I would like to talk about 2 of them due to their immediate availability and low costs and these are:- Liberty Reserve
- AlertpayLiberty Reserve: This is a service that allows members to send and receive e-money to themselves. The currency is in US dollars and LR users can use it to pay for service or good on your website, donate funds, pay for immediate download virtual products and so on. One good thing about Liberty reserve is that it offers protection to sellers and once a payment has been made, it is irrevocable. Liberty reserve is one of the most popular means of online payment being used in Nigeria and it is common among forex traders who use it for immediate loading of funds to their forex trading accounts. Liberty reserve is owned by a company based in San José, Costa Rica and can be funded either directly by bank wire or by available LR exchangers in Nigeria.
Alertpay: This is from a Canadian based company and works just like Paypal for sending and receiving money online as long as you have a verifiable personality and an email account. Alertpay is quite cheaper than Paypal and also sends Instant Payment Notification (IPN) once someone sends payments to you. You can also use Alertpay to accept payments on your website like donations, gifts and also sell items. A couple of websites also sell with Alertpay and is reputed to be growing fast to catch up with Paypal which is for now a more popular payment service. Alertpay can be funded via bank wire, money order, Cheque or an Alertpay exchanger. The fees for transactin with Alertpay are much lower than Paypal's and offers a more convenient way to pay. There are other payment services available in Nigeria such as Visa, Mastercard, Interswitch, Etranzact, Softpurse, VTN and so on but I think besides credit cards, LR and Alertpay are more commonly used in Nigeria by both buyers and sellers to commercialize their website.

Well said but there is nothing different from both Alertpay and Paypal in my opinion.
Though Alert pay claim to accept Nigeria, your account gets limited immediately after opening it and you are asked to send verification document.
When you do, you never hear from them again.
Liberty Reserve still serves Nigerians better.

If you happen to earn money online, you can use this site https://okpay.com for online money transactions. I believe as of today, this is the best paypal alternative. Not only that you can transact money from this site but also you can earn money from it. The site has a very nice referral system.
