Why the North is Poor

I would like us to share our opinions here on why you think Northern Nigeria is so poor at least when compared to the south. I am not just making this up but various studies on poverty rates and living standards in Nigeria, the North is basically poorer than Southern Nigeria.
Here are a few reasons why I think that the north is still not as rich as the south:- High birth rate
- Low embrace of western education
- Low level of scholarships offered by the few rich
- Low protection for the rights of women
- Preference for autocratic rather than democratic leaders
- Scarcity of caring leaders
- Generational povertyIf you have other opinion on this matter, feel free to add yours here

Greed and pretenious leaders. Taking up more than one wife without geuine income.Impose sanctions or law that will prevent children below age 14 from begging.
